The Very Rare Gold Skylanders

Gold Skylanders are some of the rarest Skylanders figures out there. Such is the demand for these elusive figures, that prices on Amazon and eBay have skyrocketed. Gold Skylanders were first introduced in the original Skylanders game called Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. There are three gold figure from the first game, and these are gold Chop Chop, Flameslinger and Drill Sergeant. These gold figure appeared on store shelves randomly alongside their regular versions. Due to their popularity, any gold figures that were found on shelve were snapped up immediately, and many of these figure then started showing up online, at highly inflated prices. Only one gold Skylander has been produced so far for the Giants game, and this is another Gold Flameslinger. This series 2 Flameslinger is much more common, as it is sold as an Amazon exclusive, and so is much more reasonably priced.

Gold Chop Chop
Gold Chop Chop is probably the most expensive of all the Gold Skylanders. I have seen this figure listed for over $200 on Amazon! Hard to believe for a figure that originally cost less that $10. I have to say the Gold Chop Chop figure does look awesome, but I'm not sure I could stretch to that amount of money. The Chop Chop figure is completely painted gold, even the base. The only color on the figure is the green plastic at the bottom of the base. It is importantly to know that even though the Gold Chop Chop figure looks very different to the regular one, it looks and plays exactly the same in the video game.

Gold Drill Sergeant
The Gold Drill Sergeant figure does look very impressive. Drill sergeant is supposed to be some sort of ancient robot, and so suits being painted a metallic gold color. Gold Drill Sergeant is pretty rare, and so does sell for a lot of money on Amazon and eBay. In the same was as the Chop Chop figure, gold Drill Sergeant looks exactly the same as regular Drill sergeant in the game itself.

Gold Flameslinger
As I mentioned above, there are two version of Gold Flameslinger. The rarest and most expensive of these is the original one from Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. This figure shoots only one arrow, and has green plastic on the base. The Series 2 Gold Flameslinger is from the Giants game and this figure is shooting 3 arrows, and has orange plastic on the base.

We do not know yet if there will be any other gold Skylanders figures. We hope so, as they do look really cool. We have had no indication from Activision, that there will be more to come in the Giants game. However, with the news that a third Skylanders game called Skylanders Swap Force will be released in Fall 2013, there might be some more Gold Skylanders planned.
